Stephen Kim

Operator interview - Stephen Kim, MD - Contents HQ, hanaromedia

"If you can find a creative way [of offering library content] you can make another revenue stream"

In the penultimate of our video interviews with prominent IPTV operators at the recent IPTV World Forum in London, we speak to Stephen Kim, Managing Director of Content for Korean firm hanaromedia. Mr. Kim discusses revenue models and how to make money from IPTV services, which he concedes are expensive to set up, as well as the launch of Hanaro's own HanaBox service, which allows users to watch new movies before they are released on DVD, for an additional fee.

Hanaro Telecom's "HanaTV" service is one of the most successful IPTV deployments in the APAC region, having passed 900,000 subscribers at the end of the first quarter of this year.
