Portugal Telecom celebrates World Television Day

Portugal Telecom will celebrate World Television Day tomorrow (November 21st) by giving all subscribers to its IPTV service 'Meo' free access to concerts, documentaries, shows and other content in its video-on-demand store.

Subscribers will also have free access to all premium channels on the service, enabling them to explore in detail all areas of the service.  Meo currently offers 120 linear channels, over 2,000 VOD titles, and interactive features and services including pause-live-TV, PVR (up to 300 hours of storage), karaoke and games, as well as high-definition content.

Portugal Telecom had reached 505,000 subscribers for its pay-TV service 'Meo' (delivered via IPTV and satellite) by the end of the third quarter of this year, having added 193,000 customers in the first nine months of year.

World Television Day was set up by the United Nations in March 1998, to be celebrated every year on November 21st in commemoration of the UN-hosted World Television Forum.
