BH Telecom, the largest telco in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has selected a multi-service access platform from Zhone Technologies to deliver GPON and mobile backhaul services to its customers in Sarajevo.

The move means that the operator will be the first in the country to offer 1 Gbps broadband speeds to enterprise customers and 100 Mbps broadband speeds for residential triple-play services, setting the stage for sophisticated IPTV services and smart home networking, according to the telco.

In addition to Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH), BH Telecom will also provide Fibre-to-the-Basement connections and extend ADSL and POTS services to Multi-Tenant Unit (MTU) subscribers using Zhone's EXpress Packet (XP) 1RU platforms.
