Orange had reached 3.6mn subscribers for its pay-TV services worldwide by the end of the first half of the year, having added 900,000 customers in the previous 12 months, giving a year-on-year growth of 34%.
The telco had 3.051mn subscribers for its French pay-TV services (delivered via IPTV and DTH) by the end of June, up 30% year-on-year. Its Orange sport and Orange cinema series channels had a total of 752,000 customers by the end of the six-month period, compared with 393,000 one year earlier, and there were 5.3mn paid uses of video-on-demand in the first half of 2010 - up 48% year-on-year.
Orange also claimed 453,000 customers for its pay-TV services in Poland by the end of the first half of this year, compared with 239,000 one year previously. The company has a stake in local telco Telekomunikacja Polska, which has co-branded itself under the Orange name and which offers IPTV and DTH services in the country.
Total revenues across all operations and markets for the first half of this year reached €22.144bn, down 2.2% from the same period of the previous year, while net income rose 43% by the same comparison to reach €3.965bn.
