Vodafone España is planning to launch an IPTV service this autumn, according to reports in daily newspaper El Economista, quoting the company's President Francisco Román.
The service will probably combine free-to-air channel DTT channels with high-definition and on-demand content delivered via IP, the reports add. The service is also expected to include Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) compatibility, enabling users to view content stored on their home network (such as music, photos and videos) on their living room television.
The telco will be up against some stiff competition in Telefónica however, which had reached 748,000 customers for its Spanish IPTV service 'Movistar Futura TV' by the end of June, adding 45,000 subscribers to the service in the first six months of this year.
