Deutsche Telekom has announced a number of enhancements to its IPTV service 'T-Home Entertain' at the annual IFA trade show currently taking place in Berlin, including more high-definition channels, on-demand 3D content and enhanced interactivity for football fans.
The telco has added two new high-definition channels to its lineup - sports channel SPORT1 HD and entertainment channel ServusTV HD - with both being made available for free to customers with a VDSL connection.
The new sports channel offers international football matches, the English FA Cup and Carling Cup, German handball and basketball league games, Davis Cup tennis matches and motor sport, amongst others. ServusTV is an Austrian channel which offers high-quality reports, culture documentaries and talk shows, feature films, documentaries, concerts, movie and music magazines.
The telco has also started added 3D on-demand content to its VOD library 'Videoload', including Hollywood films from studios Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures Television, such as Clash of the Titans and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. There will also be documentaries from Discovery Channel, adult programmes and sports events made available in 3D on the service.
Finally, Deutsche Telekom has enabled subscribers of its 'LIGA total!' service, which offers coverage of the German Bundesliga, to create personalised live compilations of first and second division Bundesliga football games. The new service means that viewers can select the "primary" game to watch, as well as other secondary games on which they wish to be updated.
Deutsche Telekom had 971,000 active subscribers to its German IPTV service 'T-Home Entertain' by the end of the first half of this year, up from 896,000 at the end of last March and 806,000 at the end of 2009.
