Telekom Austria selects Alca-Lu platform to extend triple-play reach

Telekom Austria has selected Alcatel-Lucent's Triple-Play Service Delivery Architecture (TPSDA) to enable it to extend the reach of its triple-play services to include smaller communities across the country.

Alcatel-Lucent is also to provide professional services in the areas of project management, software subscription, support and repair management, and technical support services.

“The rollout of the second mile Ethernet aggregation network with Alcatel-Lucent Service Routers enables us to confidently and economically offer converged data, voice and video applications throughout the whole country, to the furthest reaches of the network, over a single and homogeneous platform,” said Walter Goldenits, CTO of Telekom Austria.  “Transforming our network to all-IP give us the opportunity to offer advanced services such as high-speed Internet, Voice over IP, business services and mobile backhaul for 3G and LTE, all with the highest possible reliability and quality of service standards.”

Telekom Austria had passed 100,000 subscribers for its IPTV service 'aonTV' in the fourth quarter of 2009, increasing 58.9% year-on-year to reach 101,300 customers by the end of the year.
