AT&T has reached an agreement with Rainbow Media (owned by Cablevision) to continue carrying the latter's channels AMC, IFC and WE tv on its IPTV platform 'U-verse TV', ending a public tussle between the two companies over the carriage price of the channels.
The previous carriage deal expired on July 14th, and AT&T reportedly previously claimed that Rainbow Media was trying to charge the telco "significantly more" than other pay-TV operators, while Rainbow Media for its part claimed that it had created "great value" for AT&T.
A statement by AT&T said: "We are happy to report that AMC, IFC and WE tv will remain on AT&T U-verse TV. We’re very satisfied that we were able to reach the fair deal we wanted for our customers - one that includes the right content, across platforms, at prices that are in line with the marketplace, and that helps us with important strategic content initiatives."
AT&T added 231,000 subscribers for its IPTV service 'U-verse TV' in the first quarter of this year to reach a total of 2.3mn, having added approximately 1mn customers during the previous 12 months.
