Portugal Telecom reached 505,000 subscribers for its pay-TV service 'Meo' (delivered via IPTV and satellite) by the end of the third quarter of this year, having added 193,000 customers in the first nine months of year.
Meo subscribers now account for 62.2% of the Portuguese telco's ADSL customer base, and 19.2% of its traffic-generating lines. Over half of its installed customer base for TV services has used the video-on-demand element of the service on a paid-for basis, up 2.1% from the second quarter of this year, consuming 2.6 movies per month on average.
Portugal Telecom had 812,000 broadband subscribers by the end of the third quarter of this year, adding 103,000 customers in the first nine month of this year.
Total revenue across all operations reached €1.7419bn for the third quarter of this year, down 2.3% year-on-year, while net income fell 36.2% by the same comparison to reach €115.9mn.
