Deutsche Telekom debuts IPTV minus Internet

Deutsche Telekom has introduced a new double-play package comprising its IPTV service 'T-Home Entertain' and fixed-line telephony for €27.95 per month, or €39.95 with a flat rate for domestic fixed-line calls.

The new package, called 'Entertain Pur', has a minimum contract period of 24 months, and new customers signing up before January 4th 2009 will receive an HD-capable set-top box free of charge for one year.  The telco is reportedly targeting older customers who are not interested in Internet access and already have a telephone line with the company.

“With Entertain Pur we are offering telephony and television from a single source, thereby attracting new user groups to our Entertain offer,” Christian P. Illek, Head of Marketing.  “Customers not interested in Internet no longer have to renounce the innovative possibilities of Entertain.”

Deutsche Telekom had reached 885,000 customers for its IPTV service by the end of the third quarter of this year, but only if counting orders placed for the service and not functioning installations, which stood at 678,000 at the end of the period.
