Prime Time Communications upgrades Utah customers to high-def IPTV

Prime Time Communications, a US provider of IP-based telecoms services headquartered in Colorado, and UK firm Amino Communications have completed a "major upgrade programme" to deliver newly expanded high-definition IPTV services to the telco's customers in the state of Utah.

Prime Time provides IP-based services to over 10,000 subscribers in Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Kansas and Mississippi, including 4,000 customers across Salt Lake City's fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) UTOPIA network.  The telco contracted Amino to assist in its upgrading of customers of Mstar, a Utah-based service provider which it acquired last April.

Prime Time reportedly had a two week changeover programme to convert 3,800 customers from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 video, using Amino's AmiNET130 and AmiNET530 HD set-top boxes.

“Our triple play offering has been very well received and we’re seeing residents who took just phone and broadband now moving to IPTV services as well,” said Bryon Wentzlaff, Director of Sales at Prime Time.  "[...] Having the Amino partnership has also helped us increase our HD offering to over 60 channels – and reduce the overall cost of our package to a very competitive rate."
