Deutsche Telekom adds email & personal media portal to T-Home Entertain

Deutsche Telekom has launched a new service for customers of its IPTV service 'T-Home Entertain', enabling them to view their emails on their TV and access personal media such as photos, music and videos through their TV, PC and mobile phones.

The new service, which were debuted at the CeBIT tradeshow last February, gives 1 GB of free online storage to all customers of its IPTV service, which can be increased up to 10 GB for a fee.  All data is stored centrally on the Deutsche Telekom network and accessed through the Media Centre portal, and users can also enable friends and family to access photos stored online via their PC or mobile phone.

In addition, IPTV subscribers can also now access a number of Web services from their TV menu, including the current weather forecast, personal horoscope, football ticker and eBay account.

Deutsche Telekom had sold 600,000 subscriptions to its German IPTV service by the end of the first quarter of this year, compared to 480,000 at the end of last year, with 448,000 subscriptions being in operation by the end of March.
