Stateside IPTV revenues to reach US$ 15bn by 2014

Revenues from the provision of IPTV services in the US will grow from US$ 2bn in 2008 to US$ 15bn by 2014, according to a new report from Pyramid Research, driving the growth of IP networks in the country.

The US communications market, including traditional pay-TV, generated service revenues of US$ 359bn in 2008, according to the report, and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.5% from year-end 2009 to year-end 2014, reaching US$ 406bn in 2014.

"Most of the growth will be attributed to mobile data and IP networks," said Dan Locke, Senior Analyst at Pyramid Research and author of the report.  "Mobile data is already larger than fixed broadband and it will surpass fixed voice (PSTN + VoIP) in 2011, climbing from US$ 36bn in 2008 to US$ 94bn in 2014."

Mr. Locke adds that fixed-line broadband services will grow from revenues of US$ 33bn in 2008 to about US$ 46bn in 2014.
