Swisscom Claims Over 20,000 Orders for Bluewin TV January 10, 2006 – Swisscom has announced that their IPTV offering has reached over 20,000 subscribers only two months after market launch.
According to Swisscom, Bluewin TV has already been successfully installed in over 10,000 households. Swisscom Fixnet claims to have a backlog of orders and is now believed to be increasing its installation capacities.
However, Swisscom claims that the demand for this service has led to waiting times for installation of up to six weeks, although installations are currently running at over 1,500 a week. Swisscom has stated that it is looking to further improve its processes so that Bluewin TV can be delivered to new customers within three to four weeks.
Bluewin TV claims to have been well received by customers, who have specified that the aspects of the service they find most appealing is the attractive content and the fact that the service is easy to use. At this time, Swisscom is focusing its efforts on market launch in the residential customer segment. The company is deferring installations for interested distribution partners and their distribution networks to the second half of 2007.
Carsten Roetz, Deputy Head of Media Relations for Swisscom, states; ""We're very pleased about the big success of our IPTV product, despite the waiting times for installation. Bluewin TV exceeds our expectiations and we're now focussing on increasing installation capacities and on improving VDSL network coverage for full customer experience."
