Arkwest to Deploy Entone’s IPTV VoD Solution July 26, 2006 – Entone Technologies, an IPTV video on demand (VOD) solution provider, has announced that Arkwest Communications has selected its IPTV VOD solution for a rollout in Arkansas. This new broadband video service will allow Arkwest to provide a bundled triple-play service offering; including a local phone service, high speed Internet, and digital TV.
Offering more than 200 TV channels and 1,500 hours of movies on demand, the IPTV service will be available to Arkwest's 6,000-plus residential customers, including residents of Danville, Ola, Plainview, Belleville and Havana. To support its IPTV VOD launch, Arkwest has selected Entone’s StreamLiner® network video recorder (NVR), an IPTV VOD server, and Ingest Gateway, which is an integrated software solution for managing the ingest process of pre-encrypted digital assets and associated metadata. Entone’s StreamLiner is an open, highly scalable software architecture that transforms standard server and storage hardware from vendors such as HP and IBM, into specialized, high-performance video servers that ingest, store and stream on-demand video programming without the costs, risks, and inflexibility that comes with competing proprietary solutions. “To keep ahead of the competition, we needed to expand our service offering to include more than just voice and data services,” stated P.T. Sanders, Vice President of Operations for Arkwest Communications. “Entone’s field-proven IPTV solution enables us to cost-effectively leverage our existing network infrastructure so that we could quickly deploy VOD services across Arkansas.” Ian Jefferson, Entone’s VP of Business Development stated; “Arkwest has taken a leadership role in their community by launching personalized television services and IPTV….We look forward to partnering with them on this exciting deployment.”
