BitBand helps Swedish Space Corporation distribute signals for IPTV

BitBand, which provides video delivery solutions for broadband IP networks, is helping Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) to provide IPTV services to telecoms operators from its ground station, the Stockholm Teleport. The Swedish satellite operator aggregates TV channels at its uplink station and distributes them to broadband IP network customers. The BitBand Maestro content distribution and server management suite and BitBand Vision servers are being used by the company.

"Instead of individual deployments, BitBand and Swedish Space Corporation are re-broadcasting to a number of operators at the same time in a unique and flexible solution," states In-Stat principal analyst, Michelle Abraham. "BitBand and SSC are enabling new business models in the industry for wholesale IPTV and I expect it to become more common."

Karl Magnusson, manager of teleport services at SSC says, “Choosing BitBand for providing our customers with IPTV services is based on the company's proven experience in the IPTV market, as well as the solutions' high availability.”
