Texas FTTP operator uses Irdeto CA to protect premium contentApril 24th, 2006 – Optical Entertainment Network (OEN) has chosen the Irdeto IPTV content security solution to protect its IP-based fibre-to-the-premise (FTTP) video offering in Houston, Texas. The Irdeto solution will protect video content for OEN's FISION triple-play services, which includes HDTV.
OEN hopes to penetrate the 1.6 million home market with premium content and has recently signed carriage agreements with Starz Entertainment covering both HD and on-demand video. Irdeto IPTV provides a full range of content security solutions for IPTV broadcast, VOD and PVR/DVR services. All content is securely stored and distributed across any broadband IP network and the corresponding content rights are managed on an individual subscriber and/or device basis. Irdeto IPTV supports secure content storage on video servers and DVRs. "As part of our plan to grow our FISION service and premium service offerings, we needed to ensure we had a content security solution that fulfilled the studios’ encryption requirements and protected our revenue base," explains Allen Easty, CTO at OEN. "Irdeto's ability to integrate its proven security solution with our current infrastructure reassured us that we were complying with the necessary license requirements to offer premium content." The OEN network uses TUT Systems for its digital headend, middleware supplied by Minerva Networks and IP set-top boxes from Amino Communications. |
