HanseNet selects ADB’s HD-ready set-tops for Alice IPTV serviceApril 21st, 2006 - Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB) is supplying its ADB-3800TW HD-ready set-top boxes to German telecoms operator HanseNet for the launch of its IPTV service, which is being marketed under the ‘Alice’ brand name.
“ADB was selected as a result of its first-to-market reputation and leadership in hybrid IPTV technology,” comments Michele Novelli, marketing director of HanseNet. “We look forward to providing ‘Alice’ customers with a complete and first-class portfolio of IPTV based services this year.” The 3800TW is ADB’s latest IPTV set-top box, incorporating standard-definition and high-definition TV reception. Equipped with MPEG-4 Part 10 (H.264/AVC) decoding, the unit allows operators to optimise their broadcast bandwidth while delivering high quality sound and vision. The 3800TW features an advanced micro-processor, resulting in enhanced system performance and an innovative feature-set, including fast channel decoding, HDMI interface and swift rendering of on-screen graphics and applications. “This supply agreement marks ADB’s first entry into the German market,” notes Philippe Lambinet, ADB’s CEO. “Our experience in developing and integrating the world’s leading IPTV technologies ensures that we are well placed to meet HanseNet’s challenging launch schedule.
