Orca Wins IPTV Agreement with Leading Spanish Broadband Operator Jazztel

April 6th, 2006 - Orca Interactive announced today that it is providing its RiGHTv IPTV middleware to one of Spain's leading telecommunications and broadband providers, Jazztel, as part of a multi-million Euro deal to allow Jazztel to penetrate the residential broadband market, the service had been commercially launched.

Jazztel has purchased RiGHTv licenses to support its TV subscribers with IPTV services initially offering live television over IP using MPEG-4, implemented at the end of 2005, with the addition of other services for 2006.

Orca's solution includes a Hybrid DVB-T environment that enables Jazztel to offer subscribers IPTV content side-by-side with terrestrial channels for increased customer satisfaction from content offering and value for their money.

Additionally, with Orca's Subscriber User Interface Software Development Kit (SUI SDK), Jazztel was able to launch its solution using the third party SUI development of design company Fresh. "We are excited to work on this significant project with a leading system integrator such as Indra. Their selection of Orca validates our strategy of building a system integrator-enabled solution that offers operators a best of breed solution at a fast time to market."

Jazztel's IPTV services are provided by a coalition of companies including Spanish system integrator Indra as well as Telindus for video integration; Nagra for conditional access; Kasenna for video servers; Harmonic for encoders; and ADB for set-top boxes. Jazztel has 11.6 million lines (10.7 million with ADSL2+ technology) or 54 percent of total of lines in Spain.
