Siemens Furnishes Intelligent Home in House of Future

29th of March, 2006 -Siemens Communications has furnished its Smart Home in T-House, a part of a museum-like building called House of Future in Budapest.

Magyar Telekom, the Hungarian affiliate of the German Telekom group and Siemens want to bring Smart Home and Home Entertainment solutions closer to Hungarian consumers by this project. Smart Home enables a higher life quality by simple and consumer-friendly technology.  Siemens Communications is proud of having realized this project together with its strategic partner Magyar Telekom.

One can visit and test Smart Home solutions in the Budapest T-House which shows new trends in the field of home communication, entertainment and automation. "Intelligent home" means that several devices are connected into one network creating, this way new functionalities, and enabling remote control and automatic regulation between certain devices.

Siemens Smart Home system consists of three parts - Home Control, Home Security/Surveillance and Home Entertainment. It allows network interoperability between climate control, household appliances, electrical installation and lighting, and door control.

By Home Control people can control all domestic resources from home or from the office. In the passive system the elements react when an order is directly transmitted through the switch or the remote control. In the more advanced systems the elements react according to the circumstances: they detect inform user if a window is open, the temperature decreases or the heating is turned on.

The system allows programming everyday tasks in an automatic way, switching on and off the light with the motion and sun light sensors (so users can control electric expenses), time programming heating, ventilation or air conditioning and checking and controlling these functions from out of home.

Home Control can provide with a wide range of solutions from simple to very complete configurations. It offers a more relaxing way to travel, providing more autonomy for heavy travelers with special needs. It secures a simpler life for the older and handicapped persons, as they can switch light and appliances on and off from anywhere in the house.

Home Security provides, on a single platform, with all security services of the home, taking full advantage of a broadband connection. The system detects if a stranger appears in our home, smoke or gas is leaking or water flows, and it can be used for watch over the children playing in the room or in the garden. One can control the appliances remotely via mobile phone or online through the internet (via Carrier Web portal), or even by using a television set-top box. In case of emergency, the user is notified by phone call, SMS or e-mail.

SURPASS Home Entertainment can also be tested in the T-House: one can configure the TV-set as a communications center. What is needed is only a DSL connection. The solution grants the opportunity to use e-mail client, online games, video and audio services, video telephony, internet on TV, new interactive TV services (e.g. television-votes, broadcasting via IPTV or digital System).
