LogicaCMG Launches the uOne Media Services Portal to Push Services Over IPTV, Instant Messaging, 3G

February 15th, 2006 -LogicaCMG today launched the uOne(TM) Media Services Portal at the 3GSM World Congress, Barcelona, providing operators with the functionality to deliver rich, branded content via Instant Messaging (IM) 'buddies' over PC, IPTV set-top boxes, or videophones and 3G mobile handsets.

The IM buddies, for example, send a notification when new content becomes available, initiate a video call, facilitate download purchases and enable users to preview video content. With this capability, operators can promote high revenue-generating music, video and multimedia content using a messaging service that has already established popularity on desktops around the world.

Extending the functionality offered by the Media Services Platform, the new uOne Media Services Portal also enables users to select content that they wish to store on the mobile operator's network and allows access via a range of devices, including PC, set-top boxes and 3G mobile handsets. The Portal also allows the operator and content provider to present an interactive menu of viewing options, from short preview clip to 'view once' and full rights, for maximising potential revenue opportunities from content services.

The uOne Media Services Portal creates new opportunities for operators to generate revenue from each new trend in mobile content. Operators realise the benefits of using their network assets to provide a connection between the mobile world and other domains, such as the internet. The Media Services Portal allows operators to adopt new revenue models that generate a return on their investment, whilst also making their network an attractive proposition for content partnerships to develop and market mobile services.

Paul Nussbaum, product manager uOne at LogicaCMG, said: "Achieving true convergence involves offering the user the same experience on any device, at any time, in any location. LogicaCMG's uOne unified communication platform is ranked in the top three for providing voicemail, email and other forms of messaging to telecoms operators worldwide. With the launch of the uOne Media Services Portal, operators can offer the user an identical interface whether the content is accessed from a PC, set-top box, desktop videophone or 3G mobile phone. The user gains the value of personalised local content and doesn't need to get a new user interface or payment scheme for every different device they use. Now that the uOne solution can deliver multimedia and exciting video content, and can deliver it to any device of the user's choosing, there is nothing stopping operators from maximising revenues from this latest trend."
