Amino Strengthens Position in Hospitality IPTV Market 8th February, 2006 -Guest-Tek Interactive Entertainment Ltd., a leading provider of broadband technology solutions for the hospitality industry, has selected Amino's AmiNET110H as its in-room set-top box to deliver interactive IPTV services to its global hotel rooms.
The AmiNET110H set-top box allows guests to take full advantage of the hotel's IP network, which can offer guests high-speed Internet access, multicast Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and true video-on-demand from their rooms. "We were keen to extend our use of the Amino set-top box platform", explained Thomas Pullen, VP of IP video-on-demand for Guest-Tek. "Amino's proven track record in the hospitality market, and their engineering team support were deciding factors", he continued. "It was important that the Amino set-top boxes provided seamless integration with our interface browser and our conditional access providers while delivering high-quality IPTV services". Guest-Tek's high-speed Internet access is currently deployed in a hotel base of more than 435,000 rooms. "Guest-Tek's Internet infrastructure means IPTV services are the logical choice for hospitality", noted Rick Sailor, Vice President Sales Americas, Amino. "The AmiNET110H is ideal for in-room media gateways because it offers the latest digital entertainment technology in a robust and secure unit". More than 30 of the most prestigious hotel groups have visited the "On the Ave" hotel in New York - where Guest-Tek has deployed the AmiNET110H - to view the installation. This 'showcase' will be a demonstration of a successful implementation, facilitated by the use of Amino's compact and powerful equipment. Specifically designed for use in the hospitality industry, the set-top box is an ideal choice for digital guest room entertainment systems based on IP (Internet Protocol) networks. Hotels can easily offer additional revenue bearing services while operating costs and on-site service calls are kept to a minimum through simple, remote updates of video content and remote system monitoring. Using the AmiNET110H obviates the need to route multiple physical networks to each room as an integrated Ethernet switch allows video, Internet and voice traffic to share a single IP network without compromising security or video transmission quality. Further cost savings can be realised by integrating other guest services such as telephony and Internet access, as well as billing and hotel information, into the system.
