Verimatrix Integrate with SeaChange to Provide IPTV Solution to Leading Japanese Provider 5th December, 2005 – Verimatrix today announced that OnDemand TV has deployed the Verimatrix Content Authority System (VCAS) to protect Video-on-Demand and broadcast content over the NTT East and NTT West broadband systems.
OnDemand TV, a joint venture between NTT West, NTT East and Itochu, utilizes IP v6-based fiber networks with MPEG-2 compression to deliver TV directly into consumer homes. The company is offering an extensive library of VOD movies and 27 broadcast channels to its FTTH subscribers across Japan. “The selection of a content security provider was critical to help us obtain the rights for premium content, as well as easily integrate with our existing IPTV platform,� said Yasuyuki Taniguchi, chief manager, Engineering Department, OnDemand TV. VCAS was integrated with the SeaChange IP Video System, SkyStream’s Mediaplex-20 video headend for video streaming and Buffalo’s PC-STB1 set-top box. Itochu Technoscience Corporation (CTC) is the prime system integrator for OnDemand TV. “Telecommunication carriers have a competitive advantage when they are able to get their IPTV services up and running quickly.
