Canada's Wightman Telecom prepares for IPTV launch with INTRACOM solution
December 3, 2008 - Canadian telco Wightman Telecom has selected Greek firm INTRACOM TELECOM to deliver its fs|cdn MPEG-4 IPTV solution via its US-based subsidiary Conklin-Intracom, as part of the telco's preparations to deliver IPTV services to its customer base.
Wightman Telecom has selected the Greek firm's IPTV delivery solution to serve communities in the counties of Bruce, Grey, Huron, Wellington and Perth of Ontario. The telco has reportedly already started deploying these services to customers that are reached by its new fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network, as well as those served by its existing copper-based xDSL network, and also plans to offer high-definition services in the future.
"Conklin-Intracom has proven to be a strategic value-added partner in Wightman's triple-play plans," said Tom Sullivan, Vice President and General Manager of Wightman Telecom. "They are a resource we continue to call on as we expand our efforts to include VOD and other enhanced services such as on screen chat, etc."
