T-Home selects Artec's XBL Broadcast Logger to generate VOD clips

December 1, 2008 - German telco Deutsche Telekom has selected local firm Artec to supply its XBL Broadcast Logger to generate video clips for the VOD element of the telco's IPTV service 'T-Home Entertain'.

The XBL Broadcast Logger will act as a network-based multimedia recorder for transmission points, broadcast recording and video on demand production, as well as an IPTV middleware solution. The XBL Logger can record up to eight TV and radio stations in varying qualities over a period of ten to 180 days.

Deutsche Telekom recently reported that it had 333,000 customers for its 'T-Home Entertain' IPTV service at the end of the third quarter of this year, an increase of 33% within a single quarter from the 250,000 announced at the end of June. Of these total orders, the telco reports that it has activated 257,000 connections, an increase of around 60,000 or about 30% from the "almost 200,000" reported at the end of the second quarter of this year.

The telco is now reportedly aiming to reach 500,000 customers for T-Home Entertain by the end of this year.
