Portugal Telecom adds new children's programming on Meo for Christmas

December 1, 2008 - Portugal Telecom has added new children's programming to its 'Meo' pay-TV platform (IPTV and satellite) in the run-up to Christmas.

The telco has launched a new channel called JimJam on both IPTV and satellite platforms, and its IPTV customers will also receive access to the channel Demo until the end of the year, offering 24-hour programming including cartoons and classic children's programmes from the channels Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, JimJam and Baby TV.

Satellite customers will also have free access to the channel Cartoon Network, airing classic cartoons such as Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry, as well as more recent cartoons such as Powerpuff Girls and Scooby Doo.

New Christmas programming will also be available on the video on demand store 'VideoClube', offering around 30 films until January 6th 2009 with a 50% discount and a new selection each week. Films to be made available as part of this offer will include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and The Polar Express, amongst others.

Portugal Telecom reports that in the third quarter of this year it added 95,000 subscribers for the pay-TV service 'Meo', delivered via IPTV and satellite, reaching 211,000 at the end of September.
