Harmonic and Fraunhofer FOKUS to collaborate on IPTV solutions
November 20, 2008 - US firm Harmonic and the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS, Berlin, have formed a collaboration to develop personalised solutions for IPTV operators, including technology for the delivery of personalised media and targeted adverts.
Harmonic will be integrating its latest IP headend and advertisement technologies in the Fraunhofer FOKUS Media Interoperability Lab (MI Lab), with the intention of focusing on the simultaneous delivery of personalised media and targeted adverts, including delivery to mobile devices where TV programmes are adjusted to suit the end device.
“Harmonic brings significant experience in streaming multimedia data for mass markets to the Media Interoperability Lab,” said Dr. Stefan Arbanoswki, Executive of the FOKUS Competence Center Smart Environments. “This experience, alongside the latest ad insertion and digital video mosaic technologies from Harmonic, will help us to develop personalised media services for converging media ecosystems.”
