China: HP China partners with OrcaHP has formed a close partnership with Orca Interactive (March 2005) to offer a complete triple play of broadband TV solutions to telecommunications carriers and service providers in Mainland China.
As part of the partnership, HP will prime and lead projects with customers incorporating Orca’s RiGHTv Telco-grade middleware applications for the delivery of IPTV services such as broadcast TV over IP, VOD (Video-on-Demand), NVOD (Near Video-on-Demand), PVR (Personal Video Recording), pay-per-view, games, T-commerce and other interactive services. The two companies announced that they have also completed the installation of full-scale demo systems in Shanghai and Beijing to provide customers with a first-hand experience with the IPTV solution. This announcement comes on the heels of Orca and HP’s industry first, full scale IPTV benchmark for 500,000 subscribers as proof of the solution’s high scalability for supporting large-scale commercial IPTV deployment.
