China's SARFT issues IPTV licence to private firm Huaxia Network
October 17, 2008 - China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has issued a new IPTV licence to Beijing firm Huaxia Nework, which runs a news site covering Taiwan-related topics, according to local reports.
The SARFT has previously awarded licences to operators including China Central Television (CCTV), Shanghai Media Group (SMG), Southern Media Corporation (SMC), China Radio International (CRI) and Hangzhou-based Wasu. The IPTV licence covers the delivery of broadcast programming to televisions, while video-sharing websites currently have permits for audiovisual programming to be received by computers.
