Meo subs "very satisfied" with Benfica TV
October 7, 2008 - Half of subscribers to Portugal Telecom's 'Meo' IPTV service tuned in to the first broadcast on the new Benfica TV channel, which exclusively showed a football game between Benfica vs. Napoli as part of a special edition of Benfica TV, which officially launches in November.
In a study conducted after the game by the research company QMetrics/QData, 94% of subscribers to Meo (offered via IPTV and satellite) reported that the new channel adds value to the service, and rated sound and image quality an average of 4.3 out of 5, while content broadcast before the game was rated an average of 4.1.
Half of subscribers reported that they had seen the game and 30% watched the channels broadcasted earlier, featuring studio interviews and on-location reporting. The Benfica vs. Napoli game was broadcast for free and exclusively for Meo subscribers. Portugal Telecom recently reported that it had passed an impressive 200,000 subscribers for Meo, compared to 116,000 at the end of the second quarter of this year.
