UTStarcom integrates Optibase encoders for new Indian IPTV service

October 7, 2008 - UTStarcom has integrated video encoders from Israeli firm Optibase as part of an end-to-end IPTV solution to be delivered to United Telecoms of Bangalore, which was chosen to supply and implement Goa Broadband Network, a state-wide public-private initiative.

UTStarcom's RollingStream IPTV platform, incorporating Optibase's H.264 streaming encoders, will provide Goa's citizens with broadcast-quality TV and advanced on-demand entertainment services over IP networks.

"We continue to strengthen our position as one of the main IPTV providers in Asia," said Udi Shani, EVP Sales at Optibase. "Our advanced streaming platforms fit perfectly with UTStarcom's control and management systems to offer state-of-the-art TV over IP services. We are excited with Optibase's growing recognition throughout Asia as an innovative, highly reliable streaming solution provider."

No further details on the launch of Goa's new IPTV service were available at the time of publishing.
