Aksh Optifibre and Sony Pictures sign three-year content deal

October 1, 2008 - Indian IPTV operator Aksh Optifibre has signed a three-year content deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment under which the latter will provide Hollywood content for Aksh's IPTV service, called 'iControl'.

"This is the first agreement to bring Hollywood content on the regular television viewing with freedom to watch movie content at any given point," said Aksh Optifibre in a statement. iControl currently offers over 130 broadcast channels and value-added services such as video on demand and time-shifting.

Aksh Optfibre has formed an agreement with local telco BSNL to offer IPTV services on its network in 20 cities across the northern region of India, as well as a separate agreement with rival telco MTNL to deliver iControl on its network in Delhi and Mumbai.
