Arcor to launch Restart TV service following ProSiebenSat.1 deal
August 29, 2008 - German telco Arcor is to launch a Restart TV function for its "Arcor TV" IPTV service next month, following a deal with local media group ProSiebenSat.1.
Restart TV will enable viewers to restart a broadcast programme already in progress from the beginning, with each request costing users €0.49 (US$0.72). Arcor has already been offering the service for BBC World News and Bloomberg Television, but this is reportedly the first Restart TV agreement reached by a German IPTV operator with a major commercial broadcaster.
Arcor TV currently offers over 110 linear channels, and is available in over 60 cities across Germany. Arcor plans to expand coverage to new cities over the next few weeks including Aachen, Brunswick, Dortmund, Freiburg, Magdeburg, Mainz, Muenster, Regensburg, Wiesbaden and Wuerzburg, with the target of reaching 12mn homes by the end of this year.
