Smart Broadband Services partners with MTNL to launch IPTV in Delhi

August 28, 2008 - Indian firm Smart Broadband Services has partnered with state-owned telco Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Ltd (MTNL) to launch an IPTV service for MTNL's residential broadband customers in Delhi.

The service is delivered to set-top boxes provided by Smart Broadband, and features offered include the ability to pause live television, access on-demand content with fast forward and rewind capabilities, Digital Instant and Scheduled Recordings and more.

“With its unique two-way capability, IPTV is generations ahead of currently available cable and DTH services," said RSP Sinha, Chairman and Managing Director of MTNL. "We are excited about the choice, variety and flexibility that our customers will get, besides a great viewing experience.”

Kapil Dev Kumar, Chief Operating Officer for the telco, added: “We have plans to add many more features over the next few months, such as personalised stock ticker, interactive viewing, email and chat, travel information, weather, to give customers complete control over their entertainment experience.”
