Hitachi partners with Falcon IP/Complete to offer complete IPTV solution to rural US operators

August 26, 2008 - Hitachi Telecom has partnered with US firm Falcon IP/Complete to deliver a fully integrated MPEG-4 IPTV solution for US service providers which are implementing Hitachi's AMN1220 Gigabit Passive Optical Network Fibre to the Premises Solution.

Channel lineups are reportedly flexible, and the solution currently includes 180 standard-definition and 32 high-definition channels, along with 56 music channels and all local channels.  “Our concept of ‘Bird to box’ is unique, in that we provide the complete solution from satellite selection to the subscriber’s set-top box,” said Donald Cook, President and CEO for Falcon IP/Complete. “We take care of all integration and installation of the equipment and software required for services delivery as well as ongoing 24/7 support.”

The combined solution is reported to be designed particularly for municipalities, master planned communities and telcos that provide multi-play services to rural areas and smaller communities.
