Telekom Austria nears 50,000 IPTV subs in Q2
August 20, 2008 - Telekom Austria has revealed in its results for the second quarter of this year that it reached 49,100 subscribers for its "AonTV" IPTV service at the end of the period, compared to 20,900 at the end of December 2007.
Profits for the three months to June 30 fell 26% year-on-year to reach €96.3mn (US$142.2mn), due to losses in the number of fixed-line subscribers and higher financing costs from acquisitions. Fixed-line revenue fell 2% year-on-year to reach €522mn for the period, while total revenue across all operations for the period reached €1.28bn, compared to €1.21bn in the second quarter of last year, helped by the takeover of a company in Belarus.
Telekom Austria announced at the end of last month that it had passed 50,000 customers for AonTV, awarding a "SuperKombi" package to the milestone customer.
