China's CCTV selects Envivio encoders for Beijing IPTV service

August 20, 2008 - Chinese TV network China Central Television (CCTV) has selected encoders from Envivio for the launch of its IPTV service in Beijing in time for the start of the Olympic Games.

CCTV selected 80 of Envivio's 4Caster encoders for the service, which are currently configured for MPEG-4 AVC encoding but can be reprogrammed thanks to a software-based encoding core to deliver content in the Chinese AVS encoding format without the need for hardware modifications.
