Australian ISP Internode preps IPTV services
August 18, 2008 - Australian ISP Internode has appointed a new CEO and is preparing to launch IPTV services for its customers as part of efforts to boost its growth rate, according to reports in local news portal TechWorld.
Company founder has announced that he will remain as Managing Director but pass over the reins as CEO to Patrick Tapper, Group General Manager of Internode. Mr. Tapper said that Internode is currently testing platforms for the delivery of IPTV services, as well as negotiating with content providers, and will launch the new IP video services in the first quarter of next year.
Mr. Tapper also stated that the broadband access market which has driven Internode's growth to date is just the first stage in the development of Australia's digital economy, and the company's business plan: "We are broadening our management skill set to manage the transition to delivering a range of value-added broadband services," he said.
South Australia-based Internode reports that it has more than tripled in size in the past three years, and now has over 140,000 broadband customers nationwide.
