Portugal Telecom adds TV Globo to Meo
August 14, 2008 - Portugal Telecom has formed a partnership with TV Globo Portugal, the local division of Brazilian media group TV Globo, under which the telco will add the channel TV Globo to its "Meo" IPTV service, according to reports in Portuguese media.
The channel will be added to Meo tomorrow (August 15th) and will be offered to subscribers for free until September 15th, upon which date the channel will revert to a monthly subscription charge as a premium channel. Portugal Telecom will also add TV Globo's football channel Premiere Futebol Clube (PFC), which shows football games from the major championships held in Brazil. Portugal Telecom currently has over 120,000 subscribers for its IPTV service.
TV Globo is already carried in Brazil by rival telco Sonaecom's "Clix SmarTV" IPTV service and by local cable operators Zon and Bragatel.
