Tilgin wins trial order from incumbent telco in Middle East
August 14, 2008 - Swedish firm Tilgin has won a trial of its high-definition IPTV set-top boxes from a "major" incumbent telecom operator in the Middle East.
The field trial order is reportedly part of the operator's initial IPTV deployment and technology evaluation taking place this quarter; the operator also plans to later expand its IPTV offering to its total broadband subscribers base of over 850,000 customers. Tilgin will deliver its PVR-enabled high-definition Mood 400 IPTV set-top box and management software as part of a "leading" system integrator's end-to-end solution.
"The Middle East is leapfrogging several generations of technology to invest in the very latest," says Ola Berglund CEO at Tilgin. "This order confirms Tilgin's technology leadership and puts us in a good position when this customer and other operators in the region decide for a rollout of next generation of broadband services to the mass market."
