Home networking to reach 168mn households this year, says Parks
August 8, 2008 - A rapid growth in home networking is laying the foundation for expansion of multimedia services internationally and especially in European markets, according to Parks Associates, as the number of home networks is expected to reach 168mn this year.
“Broadband growth pushed Europe ahead of North America in terms of home network adoption,” said Kurt Scherf, Vice President and Principal Analyst for Parks Associates. “With the network in place, providers will tie in high-demand entertainment services. By 2012, over one-third of networked nodes worldwide will have entertainment or multimedia functionality, with particularly strong growth in IPTV services.”
Park's most recent Global Digital Living (GDL) study, Entertainment 2.0 in Europe, studies the growth of entertainment services in the top European markets, including country profiles, consumer surveys, adoption and valuation of DVDs, online video, video on demand, DVRs and high-definition TV services.
