Deutsche Telekom passes 250,000 subs for Entertain in Q2
August 8, 2008 - Deutsche Telekom has reported some strong progress for its "Entertain" IPTV service in the second quarter of this year, passing 250,000 total orders during the period.
CEO René Obermann commented that the T-Home domestic fixed line division had "made good progress in developing the IPTV market with Entertain. By the end of the first half-year, a quarter of a million Entertain packages had already been sold, and almost 200,000 connected." This is thought to translate to roughly 46,000 new IPTV connections between April and June of this year, up slightly from the 38,000 added in the previous three months.
Deutsche Telekom also reported that its domestic broadband subscriber base now totals 9.9mn, up 24% from the end of June of last year, although it has lost 2.27mn fixed line connections since last year and now has 29.8mn. Total revenues for the second quarter of this year reached €15.1bn (US$23.3bn), down 3% year-on-year, while net income fell 35% by the same comparison to reach €394mn.
