Indotel announces launch of Triple Play in Dominican Republic
July 30, 2008 - The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) has announced the launch of a new company called Triple Play which will specialise in offering triple-play services of telephony, broadband and IPTV to rural communities in the Dominican Republic.
The new company is being founded by Dominican investors and will launch in the Restauración district on August 1. José Rafael Vargas, President of Indotel, said that that company is entering the market at a moment when, according to specialists, "there is no way to survive in current times if you don't rapidly undertake the transformation of convergence". The services are expected to be delivered via Wi-Fi.
The company is currently setting up pilot projects in Azua, Dajabón, Restauración and Puerto Plata and is focusing on remote areas where they have identified some communities that have no connection nor communication.
