TeliaSonera nears 430,000 IPTV subs in healthy Q2
July 25, 2008 - Nordic telco TeliaSonera reached nearly 430,000 subscribers for its IPTV service across all markets by the end of the second quarter of this year, with total pay-TV customers including cable and satellite operations reaching a total of 816,000.
The telco had 320,000 IPTV subscribers in Sweden alone by the end of the second quarter of this year and, while it added just 2,000 in the period, this gives a year on year increase of a respectable 162,000 customers. The number of IPTV subscribers in Norway alone doubled to 8,000 between April and June, while in Lithuania the figure rose by 10,000 to reach 35,000, and in Estonia the company added 4,000 subscribers to reach 64,000.
TeliaSonera added 236,000 broadband customers across all markets to reach 2.379mn at the end of June. Total net sales in the second quarter of this year rose 5.7% year on year to reach SEK25.274bn (US$4.2bn), while net income reached SEK4.13bn in the period compared to SEK3.832bn one year previously.
