SES to merge units

July 11, 2008 - SES has revealed plans to merge its SES AMERICOM and SES NEW SKIES units into a new operating division.

The SES AMERICOM and SES NEW SKIES satellite fleets will remain separately owned and operated, and the new unit will continue to be supported from its current locations and facilities around the worldwide, with no major changes to business operations and market activities currently anticipated.

“By creating this new segment and combining the experienced management teams of SES AMERICOM and SES NEW SKIES, SES will improve its overall operating performance, while strengthening its competitiveness and better positioning the company for future growth,” said Romain Bausch, President and CEO of SES. “In addition to the synergies that can be expected, the new segment will be able to approach its markets with an increased level of focus and flexibility, while leveraging the power of SES’ global fleet to benefit its current and future customers.”

Robert Bednarek, the current President and CEO of SES NEW SKIES, will become the President and CEO of the new operating segment. SES AMERICOM provides managed IPTV services to telco customers in North America amongst other communications services, while SES NEW SKIES offers satellite communication services to a range of customers including telcos, broadcasters, governments and corporations around the world.
