Symmetricom intros new headend analyser

June 25, 2008 - US firm Symmetricom has unveiled its new Q-1200 digital/IP video headend analyser, a scalable, multichannel video headend monitoring device which can identify video impairments to ensure delivery quality for telco and cable operators.

The Q-1200 can provide analysis on 400 video streams simultaneously, as well as content analysis for up to 100 channels, and can identify video impairments from basic service issues to more sophisticated video artifacts such as video dropout, black/blue screen and major blockiness.

"With its multichannel scalability, deep content analysis, and centralised element manager, our Q-1200 replaces the need for expensive 'golden eye' operations personnel, enabling operators to accurately and cost effectively assure video quality at any headend location," said Dr. Stefan Winkler, Principal Technologist for Symmetricom's Telecom Solutions Division.

The Q-1200 is scheduled to be generally available in September.
