Atlas Interactive Plan Large Scale IPTV Deployment in India
The Atlas interactive project is a large-scale IPTV deployment that will initially serve over 50,000 subscribers in the National Capital Region of New Delhi and will be further expanded to cover 38 major cities nationwide, including Mumbai, later this year, reaching millions of fixed telephony subscribers. Atlas are working with Irdeto Access and TANDBERG Television. Atlas Interactive and Irdeto Access June 22nd 2005- Irdeto Access have announced that Atlas Interactive India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of the $300 million London-based Atlas Group, has selected Irdeto PIsys for IPTV to protect content delivery for its netTV project. The Atlas Group of companies is a well-established international telecom company that offers a diverse portfolio of services in over 70 countries. The company's TV over IP project is to provide high quality Video-on-Demand (VoD), broadcast TV, music, video conferencing, Short Message Service (SMS), email, web and high speed broadband access through fixed lines using ADSL technology. Irdeto Access partner BitBand, who will provide the VOD servers on which content will be pre-encrypted for maximum security using the Irdeto PIsys for IPTV system, a comprehensive content security framework for broadband IP networks. Atlas Interactive and TANDBERG TV
May 01, 2005-TANDBERG Television has delivered IPTV video head-end to Atlas Interactive for a large scale multimedia broadband deployment over the Indian telephone network. The Atlas netTV project will launch services to an initial 50,000 subscribers in the National Capital Region of Delhi in 2005. Financial terms were not disclosed.
TANDBERG Television is supplying a range of equipment for the project, including its TT1260 professional receivers that feed the video streams to the TANDBERG IP Streamer. Each IP Streamer in the system includes TANDBERG Television encoders to allow for bit-rate reduction of the streams to meet the low bandwidth capacity of the ADSL network. All parts of the system have full redundancy and are controlled by the nCompass management system, with monitoring based on the TT1260 with integrated IP input and the TT4010 transport stream analyser.
