Ciena adopts Shenick's diversifEye to test TWAMP for carriers
June 24, 2008 - US network specialist Ciena has selected Shenick Network Systems' diversifEye solution to test full two-way active measurement protocol (TWAMP) compliance for its carrier customers and help them to deliver enhanced network performance.
The TWAMP protocol enables the measurement of round-trip IP performance among any two devices in a network that supports the standard, and full TWAMP testing also enables carriers to test each node in the network and improve Quality of Service (QoS) for customers, as well as identify congested parts of a network or infrastructure.
“Measuring the performance of IP networks with standard protocols has always been a challenge,” said Robert Winters, CMO of Shenick Network Systems. “Today Shenick’s full TWAMP capabilities can test and monitor what’s happening on a network right down to an individual flow basis for a variety of different applications; voice, video and data. This brings tremendous benefits to companies like Ciena and its customers, who want to deliver QoS to end users.”
