Free adds M6 HD

June 10, 2008 - French triple-play operator Free has added the high-definition channel M6 HD from French commercial broadcaster M6 to its IPTV service, at no extra cost to subscribers.

The channel will carry games from the Euro 2008 football tournament that kicked off last weekend, as well as French and international drama series including Prison Break, NCIS and Desperate Housewives. The channel is provided for free to subscribers with a Freebox HD set-top box and a broadband package costing €29.99 per month.

Iliad, owner of Free, has recently been in talks with Telecom Italia to purchase the latter's French unit Alice, a move which is expected to consolidate Iliad as the largest alternative broadband operator in France with an estimated 3.9mn ADSL subscribers should the acquisition be completed.
