China Telecom to enhance Triple Play service delivery with Alcatel June 13, 2005 - Alcatel have announced that Zhejiang Telecom, a subsidiary of China Telecom, has selected it to deploy metropolitan optical transport networks in Zhejiang province (Eastern China).
Alcatel's multi-service solution will enable Zhejiang Telecom to deliver high quality Triple Play services to business and residential users in the three major provincial cities of Ningbo, Jiaxin and Wenzhou. The contract was won through Alcatel Shanghai Bell, Alcatel's Chinese flagship company. The project, which is scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of 2005, will allow Zhejiang Telecom to enhance its network capacity to roll out new broadband services, including Triple Play services in a fast and flexible way. By providing a fully convergent environment to offer fixed and mobile services over a single infrastructure, Alcatel's optical networking solution will also help Zhejiang Telecom lay a solid foundation to meet the demands of upcoming 3G services. "Today, optimizing network operation costs and minimizing new capital expenditures through integrated multi-service capabilities are key requirements for operators," said Romano Valussi, president of Alcatel's optical networks activities. "The flexibility of the Alcatel optical multi-service solutions will allow Zhejiang Telecom to deliver multimedia services reliably and cost-effectively. Alcatel will provide an intelligent optical network based on its data-aware Optical Multi-Service Node (OMSN) solution and the 1678 Metro Core Connect (MCC), which supports enhanced network protection and efficiency. The deployment of the Alcatel solution will enhance Zhejiang Telecom's network efficiency by optimizing the aggregation and routing of multiple services across the network. The Alcatel 1350 management suite already in operation will manage the new networks. For more information please visit http://www.alcatel.com |
